About Westside Middle School
Welcome to Westside Middle School!
We are located in the northwest corner of Whitfield County. Originally, the site was home to Westside High School. The current site is home to Westside Middle School and serves students in the sixth through eighth grade. Westside is such a special place, filled with amazing staff members who work tirelessly to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of their students. A child’s middle school years can be daunting due to the amount of change that they go through from their sixth through their eighth-grade year. An important part of having success is getting connected and involved with the activities that we offer here at Westside. Involvement in athletic, academic, or fine arts activities will help your child become a more well-rounded student and citizen, and will help set them up for a successful middle school experience. We want to partner with our families and community members as we work to ensure that our students’ needs are met in order for them to be successful. We look forward to working together as we help your child navigate through their middle school years. Please review the Whitfield County Student Code of Conduct and Informational Manual and discuss with your child what behaviors are expected of a successful middle school student, as well as helpful items such as our dress code expectations. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office at 706-673-2611, and we’ll be happy to help.

Meet our Principals
Jonathan Schneider
Principal
Dr. Schneider is extremely blessed to be a part of such a special school and community. This will be the start of his 10th year at Westside Middle School, with the first six as Assistant Principal and now his fourth as Principal. He also served as Assistant Principal at Southeast High School before coming to Westside Middle. Prior to his work as a school administrator, Dr. Schneider taught social studies for eight years at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School in Catoosa County and taught social studies for four years at Gladden Middle School in Murray county.
His educational background started at Lee University in Cleveland, TN where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in History. A few years later, he completed his Masters and Educational Specialist degrees in school administration and recently finished his Doctorate degree in educational curriculum and instruction. While at Lee University, he met his beautiful wife, Jennifer, and they have been married for 20+ years. They both feel truly blessed to both be a part of the Whitfield County School District and enjoy making a positive impact on the students in their care.
Dr. Schneider always wanted to become a teacher and coach to foster positive relationships with students and parents in order to help students/athletes believe that they can learn and achieve anything if they set their minds to it. He has always believed in motivating students in the classroom or athletes on the field to reach and exceed their academic and athletic potential. He believes that every child is capable of achieving their own level of greatness and success if they have the right support system to help them get there. Dr. Schneider truly hopes that after serving 20+ years as a teacher, coach, and school administrator, he has been able to make a positive difference in the lives of the students that he's been honored and blessed to serve. This is at the heart of what it means to be a member of the Westside Middle staff. We believe that every child can be successful and we’re going to work hard to build those positive relationships with our students and families in order to help them meet and exceed their potential. We look forward to partnering with you in order to make that happen.
